Hi! I'm Ivanna Tjitra!

Stories influence and shape who we are. They give us the power to open up new worlds, unify communities, and reveal the hidden. When our voices aren’t heard, we resort to creating and art-making. We live through our written and spoken words, and our work immortalizes us. I express my creative side by telling stories - whether it be mine or somebody else’s. As a storyteller, I have the responsibility of giving voices to the unheard, so I strive to find different ways to share stories.

I am a collage. I am the intersection where everything and everyone that influences and inspires me meets and creates a beautiful corner that I call home. I observe and absorb the world around me and translate that into art. I illuminate the stories between the cracks of my life. I strive to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, examining and admiring the little things that people may overlook. Everybody’s story is going to be different, and that’s the best part.

Graphic design isn’t only about the principles of art and design. Graphic design can take many forms and can be explored through various mediums.

Graphic design has fueled my desire to learn and explore different mediums. It has allowed me to grow both as a person and as a designer by showing me what I can do with my skills. Without graphic design, I wouldn’t have been able to be a part of so much. I am able to put my creations out there to make a mark in my school’s community and to connect with people. It has given me a sense of community and purpose and has allowed me to pick up valuable life skills.

Whether it’s through making films, writing articles, reciting poems, or designing graphics, I use my voice as an artist to influence my art. I’m always trying to ask myself: where else can I apply my skills to? I am motivated by the exploration and the combination where two skills merge into one.

​​I plan on applying my previous knowledge in a vast expanse of art by experimenting in various mediums. Art is a form of communication, and I want to continue exploring the different languages that art can use to convey a specific message or emotion. I see the world as countless possibilities of untold stories. Every piece is a story, whether it was inspired by one or its creation process is one of itself. These stories are what inspires me to create as I explore the different mediums of storytelling.
