"Beckman Media Arts" Logo (2020)
Beckman Media Arts, formerly known as Academy of Media Arts, is the film program at Arnold O. Beckman High School. After having co-designed The Beckman Beat’s rebranded logo for the school broadcast, I was then asked to rebrand the film program’s logo to Beckman Media Arts. Now, this logo can be viewed as the YouTube profile photo for Beckman Media Arts and as the brand identity to resemble the school’s film program.

After I co-designed The Beckman Beat logo in my junior year for the school broadcast, Mr. Boice emailed me about rebranding the film program from Academy of the Arts to Beckman Media Arts. I immediately said yes and got to work. He wanted a logo that was modern, simple, timeless, and minimalistic. These sketches were the ideas I drafted in August of 2020 before school even began. The process of creating the logo took weeks from sketches to drafts to approvals before finalizing the logo.

The first set of logo was what I first showed Mr. Boice to get his opinion on the direction I was heading. I included minimal camera imagery in order to maintain a professional image. The second set of logos was after Mr. Boice and the leadership team narrowed down our choices to two logos before finalizing our designs. CMYK are the basic colors for printing color images. Staying true to the minimalistic design and the Beckman school colors, I included cyan and magenta. Now, this logo is the face of the film program and can be seen as the profile picture for the YouTube channel! I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to design both logos for the film program and school broadcast!
