When the Journalism program got combined with the Independent Film Projects class in my junior year, our focus shifted from articles and magazines to broadcast segments and documentaries. The Beckman Chronicle, the organization that was run by the Journalism class which produced the school's annual magazines, was becoming a club, so we knew we needed a new logo and brand to combine the Journalism program and the school broadcast. These are the sketches from Stephanie Xu, Class of 2020, from 2019 when we were first creating the new identity of our brand.

After Stepho sketches some logos, I was responsible for digitalizing them and modifying the designs to fit our brand. I was designing primarily for The Beckman Beat website where our articles and the BTV episodes would be uploaded and published. The color codes from the website can be seen in this draft to make sure the logo would fit with the color scheme within the website. I never would have though that the logo I co-designed in my junior year would then appear at the beginning of every broadcast episode and could possibly continue to appear in every episode even after I've graduated. It was super cool to see the logo become three-dimensional in the first episode of the broadcast of 2021!
